Join us for a special tour of two exhibitions at The FLAG Art Foundation: Ellsworth Kelly: Black and White Workscurated by Jack Shear, and Painting/Object: Sarah Crowner, N. Dash, Sam Moyer, Julia Rommel, Erin ShirreffThe tour will be led by Jon Rider, the FLAG’s Associate Director and Risa Daniels, Exhibitions and Programs Manager.

Ellsworth Kelly: Black & White Works presents twenty-nine pieces that highlight the role of experimentation within Ellsworth Kelly’s practice, focusing on his mastery in black and white. The show includes rarely-seen drawings, paintings, photographs, and sculptures made in the first and last decade of the artist’s career, such as a suite of landscape drawings, a series of photographs from 1950, and three small studies from 1959. The curator’s eclectic selection of disparate and little-known artworks emphasizes Kelly’s evolving and experimental creative practice.

Painting/Object: Sarah Crowner, N. Dash, Sam Moyer, Julia Rommel, Erin Shirreff features new and recent works by five New York-based artists whose work draws upon Ellsworth Kelly’s legacy. Each artist employs similar formal tactics as Kelly, yet each embraces the mark of the artist’s hand to highlight distinctive approaches to construction, materiality, and process.
