Curator-Led Tour of ‘Faith Ringgold: American People’ at the New Museum

The AFA was pleased to provide this special, curator-led tour of Faith Ringgold: American People at the New Museum with Edlis Neeson Artistic Director, Massimiliano Gioni.

Faith Ringgold is one of the most influential cultural figures of her generation, with a career linking the multi-disciplinary practices of the Harlem Renaissance to the political art of young Black artists working today. For sixty years, Ringgold has drawn from both personal autobiography and collective histories to both document her life as an artist and mother and to amplify the struggles for social justice and equity. Faith Ringgold: American People is the most comprehensive exhibition to date of this groundbreaking artist’s vision. This retrospective provides a timely opportunity to experience the art of an American icon.

COVID Precautions

In compliance with city regulations, the New Museum requires visitors 5 years of age and older to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the Museum. Visitors 18 years of age and older must also show an ID bearing the same identifying information as proof of vaccination. Vaccinated visitors ages 5–17 without an ID must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult with an ID.

All visitors ages 4 and up are still required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.

Proof of vaccination may include:

If you received the vaccine outside the U.S., you must have an official immunization record that includes:

  • First name and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Vaccine product name (only vaccines authorized by the WHO are acceptable)
  • Date(s) administered
  • Site where the vaccine was administered, or name of the person who administered it.

Valid ID includes your name accompanied by a photograph OR your date of birth, such as:

  • Driver’s license
  • Government ID card
  • IDNYC card
  • Passport
  • School ID card
