The American Federation of Arts is delighted to invite our members to a special curator-led tour of the Hilma af Kint Exhibition at the MOMA, on Tuesday, July 22 at 5:30pm. The tour will be led by Jodi Hauptman, The Richard Roth Senior Curator, Department of Drawings and Prints.
Dedicated entirely to the visionary artist Hilma af Klint, this exhibition highlights a newly acquired portfolio of her botanical works. In the spring and summer of 1919 and 1920, during a period of intense engagement with nature, af Klint drew flowers almost every day. “I will try,” she wrote, “to grasp the flowers of the earth.” These jewel-toned watercolors reveal her sensitivity as a keen-eyed naturalist, attuned to the rhythms and bounty of the blooming season.
